Milkshake Festival '23 Campaign: Moments with Gia

15 February 2023

'Where it all begins of us evolving is to support each other to the fullest, because it starts with us, we have to accept, appreciate and lift each other up.'

This year a total of three beautiful people will be the center point of our campaign. We love to share some personal moments behind these wonderful faces. And so, we sat down with campaign model Gia to chat about what brings joy, inspiration, and empowerment.

Gia Bab is an international model who is rising and shining in the fashion industry. We’ve seen her in countless magazines, runways and campaigns for: Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Numéro, Mugler, Mugler fragrance and Jean Paul Gaultier. Gia has always been a close part of the Milkshake family with her heart and core in the Amsterdam queer scene. As Gia says, 'What keeps me going is to be there for the trans community, representation is so important, fighting for equality is my drive.'

'What I’ve seen the last year, working as an international model, to finally see a representation on a runway that I can connect to, for me is mind-blowing. To be where I am now, and to have the chance and the recognition by the industry to be an example, drives me greatly.'

We asked Gia what or who empowers her in day-to-day life and the inspirations she is surrounded by that contribute to making that possible. Gia shared with us: 'My community and especially my sisters, the sisters that made way for me to be the person that I am today and can be. It's also being part of the next generation, to be an example, it's something I’m very grateful for. Having them beside me at this moment makes it all possible to be and remain an example. Empowerment indeed.'

What Milkshake stands for translates into shared and personal meanings for each and every one of our community. Gia shared with us that for her 'Milkshake means love for everyone, for everybody to be themselves, to be appreciated for who they are and spread that love.'

'Where it all begins of us evolving, is to support each other to the fullest, because it starts with us, we have to accept, appreciate and lift each other up. We’re not there yet, but when we are one, we can be collectively going for something that we all wish to have in the near future which is acceptance, being loved for who we are, and that we can be who we want to be, EVERYONE! Love, be loved, and let everybody be themselves.'
